About the speaker

Michael Barnes is the President of Unique Background Solutions, an employment screening company specializing in background checks and drug testing. Michael helped found Unique Background Solutions in October of 2005. He works with companies all over the country helping to design screening programs with both large and small needs.

Michael lead the way for Unique Background Solutions to make the committed efforts to obtain Accreditation through the PBSA, Professional Background Screeners Association. He has received and held his Advanced FCRA Certification for more than 10 years and he is a Department of Transportation qualified Train the Trainer in 49 CFR Part 40 Drug and Alcohol testing. He holds his Reasonable Suspicion Training Certification through the National Association of Drug and Alcohol Screeners.

Michael is a graduate of NC State University class of 1997 and UNC-Charlotte class of 2001. His background originated in the Environmental Sciences which lead him to the teaching profession for 5 years before joining the family business and helping to transform the business into a full-service employment screening company.

Michael is currently the President of the Rotary Club of Mt. Airy of which he has been a member for 6 years. He enjoys listening to music as well as any outdoor activity, but enjoys spending most of his spare time hiking, biking and kayaking with his wife Emily and his two sons, Cooper and Sawyer.
